There’s something special about watching a film under the stars. This summer, Wivenhoe House Hotel is once again transforming its beautiful grounds into an open-air cinema, welcoming guests for two unforgettable evenings of entertainment, great food and summer atmosphere.
Whether you’re planning a romantic date night, an evening with friends or simply looking for a unique way to enjoy the summer, our Outdoor Cinema events offer the perfect excuse to spend an evening in the beautiful surroundings of Wivenhoe Park.
An Evening to Remember
Set against the backdrop of our historic country house, guests can relax on the sunken lawn as the sun sets before enjoying a film on the big screen.
Arrive early to soak up the atmosphere with live music, enjoy a drink from the bar, indulge in freshly made popcorn or treat yourself to one of our delicious mezze boards before the film begins. Blankets and low-backed chairs are encouraged, allowing you to settle in for a comfortable evening beneath the stars.
External food and drink are not permitted, with a selection of food and beverages available to purchase throughout the evening.
Wicked: Friday 7th August
Join us for a magical evening with a screening of the smash-hit musical Wicked. From the stunning soundtrack to the spectacular storytelling, it’s the perfect choice for a summer night outdoors.
Doors open from 7:30pm, with live music from 8:00pm before the film begins at sunset (approximately 8:45–9:00pm). Tickets start from £11 per person.

Dirty Dancing: Saturday 8th August
Nobody puts Baby in the corner!
The following evening, we’re bringing one of cinema’s most loved classics to Wivenhoe House. Gather your friends, enjoy the summer atmosphere and sing along to the iconic soundtrack during our outdoor screening of Dirty Dancing.
Just like our Wicked event, guests can enjoy drinks, delicious food and live entertainment before settling in for a memorable evening under the stars. Tickets start from £11 per person.
Make a Night of It
Why not arrive early and enjoy dinner before the film? Our Brasserie offers the perfect setting for a relaxed pre-cinema meal, or keep things simple with cocktails, sharing boards and cinema snacks available throughout the evening.
