Wivenhoe House is a four star country house hotel on the outskirts of Colchester. The hotel has 40 bedrooms, conference and event facilities for up to 120 guests and a 100 seater brasserie restaurant. The Hotel is also home to the Edge Hotel School. The first hotel school of its kind in the UK, the Edge Hotel School, equips its Hotel Management and Events Management degree students with the professional and managerial skills, as well as the academic theory, to prepare them for their future career as leaders in the industry.

Business Development Manager (UECS)

The University of Essex Campus Services (UECS) is looking for a new Business Development Manager. The commercial department brings together a range of commercial services, including Wivenhoe House Hotel and Event Essex. Our focus is on delivering excellent customer experiences while growing sustainable commercial income across the University’s commercial portfolio.

The Business Development team plays an important role in driving this growth by identifying new opportunities, developing client relationships, and turning opportunities into revenue. Working across the portfolio, the team connects the right clients, markets, and commercial opportunities with the services we offer.

The Business Development Manager will work closely with Wivenhoe House Hotel, helping to identify and develop new business opportunities across the hotel’s key revenue areas, including meetings, conferences, events, weddings and accommodation. They will build strong relationships with new and existing clients, support the hotel’s commercial objectives, and work collaboratively with the wider team to convert opportunities into bookings and long-term business relationships.
