Wivenhoe House Hotel, home of the Edge Hotel School has maintained its AA four star rating and increased its merit score to 84 per cent, the maximum score for a four-star property.
The average score for a four-star AA property in the UK is 79 per cent.
General Manager Oliver Brown said: “This score reflects the commitment and professionalism of everyone who works here, including the Edge Hotel School students.
“We are very proud of the elegance and history of our Grade II listed property and we take great care in maintaining its appearance, both inside and out.”
In the report, the inspector highlighted the “welcoming and very friendly team” and praised the newly refurbished brasserie saying it “makes for great impact; light and airy, chic and modern décor”. She also reported that the new look bar area “looks chic and trendy”.
The inspector also commended the housekeeping team for “very good levels of cleanliness.”
