We had a fantastic time on Thursday 16 November when we welcomed BBC Essex to our Children In Need fund-raising afternoon tea.
Afternoon presenter Tony Fisher presented his show live from our lounges in front of a sell-out crowd who enjoyed a refreshing glass of Prosecco and a Pudsey Bear themed afternoon tea and four hours of live entertainment.
Tony was joined by a host of BBC Essex presenters, who mingled with the guests all of whom were delighted to put a ‘face to a name’.
After some quick training, the presenters all helped serve the afternoon tea to the guests and managed not to drop any gingerbread Pudseys!
Two of the cast from the Mercury Theatre’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs pantomime came along to join in the fun and BBC Essex’s breakfast presenter Sadie Nine earned some extra pounds for the Children In Need coffers by singing to the enchanted audience.
Our general manager Oliver Brown, vice-principal of the Edge Hotel School Adrian Martin and Edge Hotel School undergraduate Racheal Lumer all joined in the conversation on air.
Oliver said: “Our thanks to everyone who came along to support this incredibly worthy charity. Together we raised £849.12 for Children In Need, a fantastic achievement.”
