Rock at the House
Our season of events begins with Rock at the House, staged in a luxury marquee outside the eighteenth century main house. The headline act is Hugh Cornwell, original guitarist, singer and main songwriter in The Stranglers.
It’s a glittering parade of folk faves on Sunday 23 June. Award winner after award winner takes to the stage in the marquee at Wivenhoe House supporting Show of Hands who won the Best Duo and Best Original Song in the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
Wivenhoe House is delighted to present two of the titans of UK cricket with a side-splitting show full of memories from within the Test Match Special commentary boxes all over the world. The fun spills out from the globe’s most famous grounds to taxis, buses, beaches, deserts and hotels. Anecdotes never before heard of the most legendary players, in every sense of the word, from the last forty years are finally aired.
A sporting institution, Peter Baxter was the organising brain behind BBC Radio’s Test Match Special for 34 years and Henry “My Dear Old Thing” Blofeld, OBE is one of Britain’s most loved broadcasters. He has commentated on the show since 1972.
Don’t miss this gloriously funny show, early booking is strongly recommended.
Oscar Wilde's comic thriller is full of intrigue, jealousy and brilliant one-liners.
