Shakespeare in the Park

Saturday 14 June, 7.30pm

Celebrating Shakespeare’s 450th birthday, renowned GB Theatre Company are staging a fantastic evening of extracts from classic plays and sonnets, including performances from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, Hamlet and Henry V. Set in a luxury marquee in the grounds of beautiful Wivenhoe House, this magical evening can also include a pre-theatre dinner in Wivenhoe House’s brasserie.


The Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Sunday 15 June, 11.00-4.00pm

Entry is free to this afternoon of entertainment and games to be held in our luxury marquee. Our famous hog roast as well as a tasty selection of cakes and sandwiches will be available for purchase on the day.


Laurent Perrier Champagne Dinner

Friday 4 July, 7.30pm

Wivenhoe House is uncorking a Laurent Perrier Champagne dinner. Following on the success of our sell out sommelier evening, expert Sommelier Lionel Lachasseigne is partnering Laurent Perrier to guide you through an impressive selection of this renowned Champagne House’s vintages, with four course dinner.

Blissful Break

We are delighted to introduce a taste of pampering heaven at Wivenhoe House.

Overnight guests can enjoy luxurious treatments, a bottle of Champagne in their room and dinner in the award-winning brasserie from £270 for two people including a full breakfast in the morning.  For more details, see our blissful break package.

By car:

Whether approaching Wivenhoe House from London and the South or Ipswich and the North via the A12, take the exit marked Colchester (A133). Follow the A133 towards Clacton, ignore the entrance to the Knowledge Gateway, continue along the A133 then take the B1028 for Wivenhoe before turning right into Boundary Road, then right again into Park Road. The entrance for Wivenhoe House is shared with the University of Essex but Park Road leads you through Wivenhoe Park and you will be able to see the glorious house from the road.

By train:

Colchester station, Colchester Town station, Wivenhoe station and Hythe stations are all between 10-15 minutes from Wivenhoe House by car. Trains run between London (Liverpool Street) and Colchester station every 10-20 minutes. The journey takes around an hour. Also connect with Colchester from Norwich, Ipswich, Felixstowe & Harwich. Some trains from London (Liverpool Street) also stop at Wivenhoe Station. When travelling from the Clacton/Walton direction, alight at Wivenhoe or Hythe Stations.

By plane:

Stansted airport is approximately 45 minutes from Wivenhoe House by car. Helicopter pad coordinates are 603200/223900.
